Holidays and Surgeries

I didn't get that other job I applied for, either. I didn't really expect to, but I am going to keep an eye out for fully reemote jobs in the company I work for, though. It's looking more and more like we'll move out to the property my parents own next year, which would be a 35-40 minute commute. I wouldn't mind, but it sure would be nice not having a commute at all, though.

I sold a laptop on eBay I specifically bought to flip. Had to install a new SSD and I provided a new power cord with it. After fees and everything, it made around $40... I don't think it's worth it for the time and how long it took to sell, so I doubt I'll do any more of those. Unless I get one for really, really cheap that is decent.

This past week, we put up the Christmas tree. My daughters love it, though the youngest keeps trying to take ornaments off to play with. From what I hear, thay may be going on every year for a while, though. But anyway, I got them each Santa hats to wear during the decorating and they looked so cute.

Also, last Monday, my wife had to get her gallbladder removed. She's doing okay now, but it's just been a crazy year. Hopefully next year will go better.

In other news, I finished a playthrough of Heavy Rain recently. I'm not going to go back through it to get more acheivements or anything, but it was good. I like those story-driven games. I did not predict what was going on in Heavy Rain, so the ending was a bit of a surprise. But that's good. Up next, I'll (slowly) play through Alan Wake and it's sequel. I downloaded Alan Wake onto the Steam Deck, but have not started it yet. I also have downloaded Minecraft onto it, which I haven't played in so many years. There's a lot of new stuff, but all I want to do is build a walled desert village like I used to.

On the note of computers, I think I'm going to install Ubuntu Server onto an old computer I have in the shop. I use it for Jellyfin, but it's always turned off, so it's rather useless. I figure if I put a server OS on it, it'll actually stay up and be useful. I'm not sure when I'll do that as I will need to tranfer media first, but I imagine it won't be too long away.
I've also decided to step away from learning HTML and CSS. Realistically, I can fumble through editing this site myself or utilize tools and AI if needed. I'm not going to use the knowledge anywhere else, so why bother? Instead, I'm looking into SQL. Database stuff. Maybe I'd be able to utilize that in the future within my career band or a new one entirely. I'm using DataLemur to learn and have just finished the basic courses. So far, so good.

My wife's eBay store is still going well! It's you're interested in seeing her page, it's Crimson Cardinal Products on eBay. I still sell things (though a lot less) at Zachalope on eBay.
